Power steering failure multiple times. Aggravated by the service department telling me there was nothing wrong with the system, even after being provided a technical service bullitin put out by GM. Last failure almost resulted in a crash into a mattress store due to failure at the apex of a turn. Update (10/13/08): The power steering became inoperative during a right hand turn, as if the ignition was turned off. At that point the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle became almost impossible to steer. I was unable to complete my turn, however I was able to "coast" to the curb and out of traffic. The power steer steering stayed inactive for multiple on/off starts. Then one of the starts it started to work. The power steering column / rack were replaced with a re-manufactured unit.
