Letter from senator gillibrand on behalf of constituent re 2006 Pontiac G6 catalytic converter. The consumer stated his mother was driving the vehicle, when the service engine light illuminated. The consumer stated on the way to the dealer, the service engine light went out. However, the transmission was shifting hard. According to the dealer, the exhaust cam solenoid needed to be replaced. However, a month later the vehicle was exhibiting the issue. The dealer determined the catalytic converter needed to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2006 Pontiac G6. While traveling at 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The dealer advised that the catalytic converter had failed and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.
