This is the second week in a row that I've had to call for help to get into my car. There's something going on with my driver door latch where the door won't open, even when unlocked. Because the model I own does not have a key fob, my only option to unlock/open the car is through the driver door. In the past I've always found that by pushing on the door WHILE pulling the handle would work to open it, but in the recent cold weather it's as if there's an additional issue of something becoming frozen inside.

This morning, the door wouldn't shut until I ran the defroster and warmed it for about 20 minutes, then it finally latched closed so I could drive to work. After sitting in the parking lot for 12 hours, when I went to leave tonight, I once again encountered the "wont open at all" issue.

I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant, so I don't have the strength I normally would to mess around very much with pushing/pulling on the door to fight it open. Last winter I had actually crawled through my trunk on at least two occasions to unlock a back door to gain access to the car.

Tonight I once again had to be rescued and after several failed attempts my brother in law ended up having to crawl through the trunk to gain access. Even after he got into the car, the door wouldn't open, even trying from the inside handle. Thinking/hoping it was just a frozen issue, I ran the heat and defroster the entire drive home (15min) but still ended up having to exit the car by crawling over the console and out the passenger door.... NOT fun when you've got a good size baby belly to contend with. The door handle has no resistance to it at all anymore, not from the outside OR inside - it's as if there's something that has broken within the inner-walls of the door itself.

Ultimately, this is not only annoying but it's a SERIOUS safety issue. My only option to enter/exit the car at this point is through one of the other three doors. If I were to be involved in an accident, my door would not be an option to escape the car in an emergency situation. Additionally, because I'm not exactly small anymore, climbing through the trunk to get into the car isn't an option either, nor should it be expected from a car owner to begin with! Because of the lock/lack of a keyfob design, I'm now left being forced to leave one of the other three doors UNLOCKED if I do have to go anywhere/park my car. That then opens my car up to theft risks, and considering I have a really nice stereo system including sub woofers/amps/etc in the trunk - that's not exactly something I feel comfortable doing either.

I can't call my mechanic until Monday morning at this point, leaving me pretty much stranded all weekend because I'm fearful of something happening and me becoming trapped in a bad situation during the final few weeks of my pregnancy. At this point this issue isn't just frustrating, it's absolutely ridiculous.

This sucks. the driver door won't open from either inside or outside. This is a real pain in the ass having to climb over the passenger seat just to go anywhere.
