G6 V6

I have had this car for six months. And it only had 11,000 miles on it when I bought it. It has already had four issues this being one of them, I put about 3,000 miles on the car when the key fob stopped working. I opened the fob up and noticed that all three contacts were broken. This seems to be a big problem with these key fobs. There needs to be something done about this.

The problem with the remotes was when they wouldn't work you could not open you car, if you tried using the key then the alarm would go off. This problem is on both alarms at different times.

key fobs don't work

This is my wife's car and she had been complaining the remote keyless entry wouldn't work some of the time. I thought it needed a new battery so popped it open to change battery and noticed right away that it had cold solder joints that had finally popped out of the printed circuit board! One small tab and the large main tab! I decided to look at the spare key fob we have never used and it was the same way! I had to resolder one leg on that one too!

FOB would randomly work. Opened it up and found there are 3 contact points where the battery is held/connected. 2 of the 3 were broken completely and would randomly touch and work, the 3rd was fine. Dealership wanted some ridiculous price (I think 200$) for a new one.

I soldered it myself and it works fine now, but wow, this thing is the world's cheapest and smallest remote control, you can get a universal remote for about 10$ now and they NEVER EVER break... good job GM.
