G6 2.4L

There's a timing chain guide that fails and breaks apart causing the timing chain to slip out of timing.

In some cases the upper guide bolt will come out and ruin the threads in the block.(Dorman makes a bolt to resolve the issue) The lower guide bolt, in my case, completely sheared off and had to be removed. The intake balance shaft sprocket was completely destroyed as well.

Biggest indicator of timing chain failure is a sound in the engine that is like pouring BBs down a drain spout. The sooner the issue is resolved the less the damage will be!
