I bought this car in oct, 2006 and i have had the intermediate steering shaft replaced on 11/2007 not even a year after i bought this car. the gear assembly replaced on 10/2008 and again on 2/2009 and the intermediate steering shaft replaced again in 2/2010. This seems to be a problem with this car. I keep taking the car to the gm dealer that sold me the car and they said it could be the way i drive the car. I own other cars and they have never given me this problem maybe it could be that because they are not gm cars. My husband and i will never purchase another gm car again .

Had my vehicle checked. My complaint was the steering freezes up while driving: the repair shop charged me 600.00 for the rack and pinion to be changed out and the problem with the steering is still there, took it back to the repair shop they reset the steering sensor, it has not happened to freeze up yet but it's steering hard and the feeling of the problem is still there, scaring me to death! I need to get this issue resolved before my insurance rates go sky high for having continuous accidents.

I have had my car since Jan 2007. I have called GM to see if there is a recall. Not only does my steering lock (I was stuck for 2 and half hours waiting for it to click which means its good to go) I was informed today by my mechanic that I need to replace the Intermediate steering shaft. I am extremely frustrated because when I called GM they didn't seem interested at all. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

This was the newest car I ever have had in my life. It was used but only had 500 miles on it. It was not kept by the owner because their college son didn't like it after 500 miles. I have enjoyed it taken it on trips to visit our son in the Air Force 450 miles away and other trips. It has 56,000 miles on it and the power steering locks up on it while turning into a gas station. I shut the car off and it unlocks the steering. I finally managed to get it home and my husband replaced the rack pinon steering on it as many others that have had the problem $368 out of what little savings we have. I drive it 15 miles into town and the steering locks up again on a busy street. I am so mad! It has sat it the shop for 2 weeks and my husband has worked two jobs and I have worked trying to get it fixed for what has said will cost us $700 to fix. I have a 15 yr old son in school and a 20yr old son in the military I would like to visit my son for Christmas but with this problem how can we?

Hello, I wanted to post a complaint about my car, and the problem it was to me. nearly a month ago I and my friend Jayson. was heading home from work. We both worked at the same place, and we had the same shift he called me to pick him up because he knew we was scheduled to work together so he told me that he'd pay the gas for me to let him car pool with me, so I as a good friend didn't hesitate to. My mother & father had just recently co-signed for me a car, which was a 2007 Pontiac G6, I love'd it dearly, from the moment I first saw it. I promised if they'd cosign i'd pay the the car note every month and fro the short time I had it i never missed one payment.

So anyway I picked him up about twoish, we we're due to work around two thirty, so we had a little time to spare so i figured i'd clean the trash out of the back seats of my car because i took great leads to keep it detailed. So I got out of the car and walked around the front and I noticed a wierd smell coming from under the hood. I told Jayson to pop it and let me check it, as soon as he popped it and the smell instantly got strong so i knew it wasn't normal so i got underneath the front and could not see what might have been causing so i call my father and he said he had added some power steering fluid because it was low and he said it might be leaking on to the engine so not to be too worried and then i had a shout of relief. so i went on to work and the not to think it would cause a later problem. So after I and Jayson get off work we rush to the car to try avoid getting soaked from the downpour of rain. So we get in the car, and for some strange reason i automatically put my seat belt on and that's strange because i rarely bukel up as soon as i get in. so As i back out of the parking space and cut my car deep the the right, It makes a bone chilling screeching sound. So i start to drive home worried about my car, and it's raining bad so i'm doing nearly forty. so as i come to a stop and the car stops, I notice the RPM'S are bouncing me thinking to my self that is strange because it's always very steady, So i make a left on Harley's road tha'ts the shortest way to Jayson house with out getting on the free lane. The road is very narrow & overwhelmed with curves. So as I began down the curvey road my steering wheel just feels lose and unstable so I know that there is something bad wrong with the front of the car. So then as i turn the wheen strait and soon another curve follows, so as I turn the wheen to the left to take that curve it just locks. and i panic and lose total control over the car and it Slams a guard rail, doing about 40/50. After it impacts with the rails it spins out of control and dead stops with the rear end smashing the cliff. I look over to my friend which is completely in shock i look over to my friend to make sure he's alright and he's completely pail and scared to death so I reach over to open the drivers door and it opens just a little bit so i have to take my legs and force it open and we get out of the car to find the devastating damage, I didn't even realize during the accident that the rear window had shattered until I came to the next day.

I'm really going to miss that car, it was my pride & joy. But I don't want another one because it's kinda terrifying to think that all of them are defective. and the next time it might be much, much worse if it was to happen such as that And i go head on into a semi or such. Thank God I'm ALive... & Jayson. I don't thin he'll ever ride with me again, Lol. But Hope they find the problem... RIP BULLET, I loved you. sad, sad day of my life. To see them haul away her pieces. =(

I have a 2007 G6 in which the power steering continues to lock up, only correction is to stop the car, shut it off and restart only for it to lock up again. I have called the dealership in which I purchased it and they asked me "did you get a letter from

GM?" I said "NO" he said "let me see if your car is included on this" "No, it is not" I scheduled an apt and now am facing a repair bill that I feel should be picked up by Pontiac. I have had 3 other Pontiacs and never had problems with any of them. What is the Deal? I want my car fixed.

I purchased this special edition G6 thinking it was a GREAT deal with extended warranty. After 3yr 36 bumper to bumper warranty is up I began having trouble with the Power steering locking up. I could shut it of and restart which would fix the problem temporarily. This has been checked by a mechanic and to our surprise there is no power steering fluid. I travel 15 highway miles to work one way and would hate for this to happen during rush hour.

I drove my g6 out of town which took about 6 hours to gett here my car did fine on the way home my steering wheel began to shake and I could hardly turn the steering wheel. So I called the dealership to have them look at it and it was the powersteering torque. I can not believe this is no something that is covered under extended warranty, that's crazy as hell it going to cost me 687.00 to have it fixed. I am not understanding why this is not a recall it is a risk, and someone can get seriously hurt. If GM know it is a problem why not fix it. fools I bet I hold on to my paper work.

This is the second time in a month and a half a a little more than 1,000 miles that I have had to put my 2007 G6 in the shop for faulty steering. The first time it happened, I was a little shy of 22k miles. My husband happened to take my car to work one day and when he came home, just as he pulled up to the house thank God, the steering locked. He could not budge the steering wheel. We had to have it towed to the dealer where they replaced the power steering assist motor and a body control module. These repairs were done on Aug 7. On Sept 26, I was leaving work, started up my car and surprise, surprise, no steering again. I now had to lose a 1/2 day of work and wages to get my car to the shop for the same
