G6 2.4L 4-cyl B Dohc (Mfi)

Just one more thing in a long list of things that have went wrong with this car. This is the one that I considered priority and invested money to fix.

G6 GT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,000 miles

This issue is a safety issue. Since Sept 2010 being told by 2 dealership. Until the engine light comes on they can't fix it. Now 9 months later it is doing the same thing. But now it will hesitate on acceleration and then when it kicks in the tires will peel off and the low traction light comes on. When pulling out into traffic I never know if the car is going to go or not. Taking it back to the dealership tomorrow and demand a fix !!

Is anyone having problems when applying the gas and your car jerks, stammers or chuggs like its not getting gas? I took mine in for service and that can't find the problem - told me I was noticing the shifting happening at intervals, but I feel the shift and then the car chuggs like its not getting gas. My car is still under warrenty and I am definately taking it back in soon, but would like to know if anyone else has had or had fixed this problem. Thanks for your help.

Update from Sep 12, 2010: About a month ago I posted this complaint. I finally was able to get my dealership to drive the car in which the car finally chugged or sputtered when they drove it. They kept my car for 1 week and found it happened to be the torc converter (part of transmission). Apparently they figured the plate associated with torc converter had groves in it, which was causing a small amt of fluid to leak, which they figured was a factory defect. Since replacing this part the car seems to be much better, so i will continue to monitor and hope this was the fix to my headaches.

Another option, is be persistant with your dealership. I basically told them this time, if they want my business (which all GM dealers are hurting right now), they best figure this problem out because if not, they were going to find me a different pontiac g6 at the same price I paid. if not I was going to report this car as a lemon under the state lemon law. This opened their eyes and they were willing to work with me.
