The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the steering wheel seized making the vehicle very difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V153000 (steering). The vehicle was repaired. The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. While driving 25 mph the steering column locked without any prior warnings. As a consequence her risk for a vehicle crash was increased. She was able to safely turn the engine off and within a few minutes, she restarted the vehicle and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The technician replaced the steering column per the warranty. The failure mileage was 20,000. The current mileage was 32,000.
