I drive a 2002 Toyota Camry. My car was parked next to a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. The Grand Prix caught on fire under the hood spreading to my car. My car and the Grand Prix total loss. Reading on the internet seems this is a problem with the Pontiac Grand Prix. Wondering why this problem not addressed by Pontiac. I know they take no credit but seems to be a recurring problem.

Engine suddenly misses and sometimes dies while moving and at the same time, the tachometer quits and the 'traction control off' switch-light comes on. The engine sometimes restarts immediately and/or the engine smooths out, but the tachometer remains inoperative and the traction control off light stays lit. Stopping and restarting the engine resets the tach and indicator light. Sometimes when the engine does die, it will not restart for several minutes and there have been instances of being stranded on the expressway.

Engine stalls when pulling out in traffic, usually turning left or right to pull into a lane of traffic. After pulling to a stop the engine restarts quickly. No engine trouble lights are set. This has has happened several times (approximately 10) and is very dangerous (pulling into traffic and having the car stall just as you start). After noting that there have been many complaints under engine or electrical on you web site, for the same problem, I feel this issue needs to be address before someone is killed or injured. For me, I am considering selling the car.

Engine will stall, especially when pulling out in traffic. It usually happen when accelerating after coming to a stop (between 0-15 mph) and makes the car extremely unsafe to drive. The car will restart and no lights come on, therefore the dealer cannot find where any "codes" have been set in the engine. I have had the car to the dealer numerous times, and they cannot recreate or diagnose the problem. I have also opened a file with Pontiac. This problem is a danger to everyone on the road, especially Grand Prix drivers. When will this problem be investigated and what will it take for a "fix" to be implemented? as it stands now, the car is unsafe to drive, and the dealership cannot offer an explanation.
