My 1999 Pontiac has a very weak retract spring on the left side front seat belt, I must be very careful to make sure that the seat belt is inside the car when I close the door. The seat belt can get caught in the door preventing the door from properly closing and locking when the car is parked, damage and soil of the belt could make the belt usless. I question the abilliy of the belt to operate properly in the case of a crash if the return spring is or has become weak.
