Grand Prix 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

My 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix has an ongoing intermittent problem since 2016 that is worse. It's in the shop again. No one can find anything wrong with my car. I had it to 3 different auto shops. The last place put an ignition modular in it. Still didn't work. They have my car now waiting for the car to act up on them. They get no codes. Problem 1. The car DIES out while driving or in park. The car will always start after it "dies out" on first attempt. Problem 2. The car engine cranks over normally when you attempt to start it BUT the engine does not start. When that happens I have to wait 15 min (give or take minutes) and try again. Sometimes it can take up to 4 attempts before it starts. The car will always start when it wants to. Last Friday on my lunch break the car didn't start at first attempt. 2nd attempt it did. I drove 5 min away from work to my home and it dies on me while I was going up the driveway. It took 8 times to get it into my driveway off the apron and sidewalk. I turned the key and it started right up, moved up a little bit, and then it died. Did that over and over again until I got it in the driveway. Had car towed Monday. Mechanic called me today and said he drove it and no problems. He is going to drive it again tomorrow. Very frustrating! (putting that mildly.) I wish I knew what the heck is wrong with it. :(

Grand Prix 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

EVERYTIME the car is warm and left to sit for 10-45 minutes, it will stall on the first start attempt.

I cleaned the throttle body and air flow sensor. It seemed to help for a few days.
