1500 Express 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,222 miles

Sometimes when the truck is down shifting the transmission slams really hard into the lower gear. It slams hard enough to jerk the truck. I have kept up with all servicing and take good care of it so I don't understand what could be wrong.

i traded in my 05 ram 1500 with 98000 miles for a brand new 2012 ram 1500 5.7 grey real beautiful lemon....so any way hit around 25000 miles started to notice a soft jerking coming from the truck thought ok maybe no big deal squeaking coming from the front end finally decided to take it to the dealership when it started launching me forward towards other cars. took it to ron carter in league city tx, they said they couldn't find anything wrong. said it was normal, told me the squealing from the front end was just normal truck noise. the mechanic knew because he owns a truck....funny, took it back to them they said they didn't have enough time to get to it the second time they told me they did however fix the engine light for me and did a factory reset. told them i was taking it somewhere else took it to alvin said couldn't find anything wrong. reset it again for me. a month later moved to georgia took it to dealership here said i had a part out replaced it that fixed the launching not the jerking ,flashed it again mechanic contacted stars they told him to tell me to drive it in tow haul mode ,,,,i guess forever i got a copy of that correspondence, gonna frame it. we contacted Chrysler customer service

said they would have a guy come out and check it never did. today driving back from savannah the truck shifts from drive to 4 with a big jerk locks in at forth can't put it in drive, nothing. can't shift higher or lower, manage to get over to shoulder turn the truck off waited. everything seemed normal started driving on shoulder to build up speed got back on slow lane got to 50 mph rpms shoot up took my foot of the gas rpms hit over 6000 belts are screaming then daughter and i are launched forward thank god no one was in front of us. i will not drive this truck i will walk ,first brand new truck ever owned i just want it gone scares me, its a hazard for my family and yours

Update from Dec 16, 2013: well took the truck to the dealership ,they gave me a loner that was nice they drove mine for few days turns out nothing was wrong with my truck so they say ,they said that there is no error codes that they cant fix what they cant find drove down the road to a mom and pops garage they took a hand held code reader plugged it in and showed me a code for a pcm soft code but a code then proceeded to show me what the course of action for that code would be it actually requires a lot of trouble shooting didnt realize how much

I got my 2012 ram from Jim Burke automotive in Birmingham Alabama .It had only 7,000 miles on it .We were on vacation in the smokies having a ball . Until the nightmare that I have been hearing about came true .I was going up a hill behind a car that was going about 30 to 40 .Well that's when the transmission could not decide on what gear it needed to be in. It would down shift then right back up .It was sluggen so bad it felt like I was. In a manual transmission in 6 th gear trying to climb a hill. Now every time I go up a hill it does that. And at speeds from 60 to 80 it vibrates so bad I think it's gonna fall apart.Took it to Jim Burke yesterday and wile I was trying to tell the adv. what was going on he would cut me off and say that. Is normal.Well it finally got under my skin and I just lost all my cool with this cat.I be dang if I'm gonna pay that kind of money for a truck or anything else's as far as that goes. That shakes me around like that.I'm scared to put my family in that truck just to go to town now.I think that someone in the company that is high up should say ok let's try to come up with a fix for this problem. Before it gets someone hurt or even killed.Wake up Chrysler manufacture .YALL have a problem with the transmission you are making. And you are making people's life a living hell dealing with the so called repair shops that we have to go to. Can we the people get some HELP !! We are what keeps you people livening the high life .Maybe we need to boycott them I don't know I do know they or someone needs to fix our trucks. good luck y'all .

I bought my truck brand new in Oct 2012, didn't start to have issues with the transmission until end of April beginning of May. The RPMs when I first start the truck in the afternoon after work is at about 2.5k and I am not able to put into gear until it drops down. The truck jumps when I put it in gear and while driving, it doesn't shift properly so when I drive onto the freeway I have to make sure I have room and its clear. I have taken my truck into the dealership a total of 23 times since I purchased ($35,000) this truck in Oct. Every time I take it in there they tell me there is nothing wrong with it. I have called Chrysler Corp and they tell me there is nothing they can do for me until there is a code that is found. This is my first Dodge and it is my last......

they know it is there but cannot fix it till dodge tells them what to do. this is my 3rd ram and the only one that has had this problem. they say it is a new engine.

Update from Jun 27, 2013: TRANSMISSION VIBRATES @38 MPH AND 1000 RPM. DEALER SAY THEY KNOW ABOUT IT BUT CAN DO NOTHING TILL DODGE TELLS THEM WHAT TO DO. CALLED DODGE AND TALKED TO A REP AND HE SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. I SAY B S. I HAVE HAD 7 DODGE RAMS AND NO PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I TOLD THEM THIS WILL BE MY LAST RAM. I PAID $50,000.00 FOR THIS TRUCK AND I WILL NOT HAVE IT LONG. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 9 MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW.

Update from Sep 27, 2013: THEY SAY IT IS THE TOURQUE CONVERTER BUT THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO FIX IT. DODGE WILL NOT LET THEM PUT IN A NEW COMPUTER CHIP. PAID $51000.00 FOR A TRUCK THAT SHIMMIES AT 35-40 MPH

Update from Feb 11, 2014: WORK WAQS DONE ON FRONT END. GETTING WORSE. VIBRATION NOW IS FROM 35-45 MPH

Update from Mar 5, 2014: put the haul/tow button in and it stops vibration as the transmission does not shift in and out

1500 Sport 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 900 miles

I brought a new 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi (sport) in January 2012. By February I was having issues. The main one being the transmission was slipping and felt sluggish changing gears. When you are traveling around 30 mph it feels like you are driving a stick shift in 5th year. You have to floor it to get it up hills.

I paid $38,000 for this truck, the first brand new vehicle ever. It has been in to Dodge 4-5 times to have it fixed. It has had a new torque converter. Nothing works. Dodge says it's designed to do this.

I sought a lemon case lawyer, they were really good however with all the evidence we provided and the lousy arguments that Dodge gave back I lost the case. I had three Geriatric Arbitrators that came out on a test drive and noticed there was some issues with the transmission, their description to the detection was the transmission was(busy). I lost the case because it was not deemed life threatening or of major concern. Obviously not to these ole farts, they didn't just depart with $38000.00. I suggest this, it may take some time but if everyone has this issue we could all seek legal advice and take it to a larger scale. I'm up for it..

1500 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

Bought the RAM new, thought at first I just needed to get used to the feel of the truck but it seems to constantly shift and slip in and out of gear. When ever I go up steep hills at low speeds the tranny grinds like a manual transmission skipping gears. I have 2800 miles on it now and still can't get used to the feeling. Is this normal in a truck?

1500 Longhorn 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission

I've had it to dealer twice they felt it and said it feels like the torque converter but they have had it for two weeks and now saying its normal two other trucks i drove don't do it so it cant be normal and if that's all the better they can do ain't good enough.i spent 40,000 on this truck and expect it to run smooth not jerk and buck.the sad thing is this is a replacement truck because my 2011 they couldn't fix the gas pedal would quit working so after 13 times to the dealer they replaced it with this one under the lemon law sad customer service
