Really upset because I was hoping for Ram’s longevity. My truck is a 2014 6 cylinder 8 speed automatic quad cab. I was driving on the freeway and as soon as I hit a slightly uphill part of the freeway hell broke lose. Suddenly traction off and engine light came up at the same time. I lost speed so I pressed on the gas pedal but without any response. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOW I HATE RAM FOR IT!!! What a stupid truck. Not sure if the problem is electrical or mechanical. With an unreliable transmission like this crap who knows??!! It’ll be probably thousands to even detect this issue and fix it. I’m an Aircraft mechanic and I can tell because of the complexity of this issue it’s going to be hell to fix it.

Once I restart the engine everything goes back to normal but when I drive on a slight uphill the issues hit the fan again. This was not a cheap truck. I bought it used for $32,000. New this was over $40,000!!!!

Very disappointed and because of the complexity and danger I have to get rid of this truck!!!!

Have a 2014 1500 Dodge Ram with a V-6 engine and automatic transmission and approximately 50,000 miles. Check engine light came on while driving but noticed nothing different until I attempted to accelerate on to the interstate. Engine revved up but truck slowed down as though power not getting from the engine to the transmission. Pulled off road and let engine idle down and had to nurse the accelerator to get it up to speed and back on highway. If accelerator is pushed more than halfway down this seems to happen. This happened once before but went away on its own. Very dangerous as the more you try to accelerate quickly the slower the vehicle goes.

Driving down the highway and D starting flashing near gear knob and message came up saying not in Drive and I couldn't accelerate and had to pull over and put in park and then back in drive. Next time it happened I was going 25, then again at 25. Thank good there wasn't cars around and my kid was in the truck would've been a bad day. Took it in and they Can't see anything in the diagnostic.

I was driving and had to stop for a vehicle. When I stepped on the gas to go the d on the rotary dial was blinking as was the one on the dash and when I took my foot off the gas to accelerate it coasted back wards like it was in neutral. Dash message said put in park before putting it in to drive again. This happened two days in a row on really hot days after I was parked on blacktop for 9 hours before leaving then experiencing the failure. .

The delay in acceleration has been an ongoing problem since I bought the truck. A couple of program updates were tried, but had no affect. Last weekend, when returning from a trip, in bumper to bumper traffic, I was almost rear-ended twice. Check engine light came on while we were on the road. I stepped on the gas to pass and the engine did nothing, then revved, dropped from 70 mph to 50 mph before it finally started to accelerate. Issue got worse as we drove. Same thing happened again and again. Speed made no difference, 70 mph, 50 mph, and starting from a stop at a stop light.

Just took vehicle in and I am waiting for diagnoses of the problem.

Ram has a problem with their electronic transmission and has had one for some time. It is getting worse.

Update from Aug 18, 2015: Problem was identified as a cracked oil filter mounting housing. Oil level was low, but when I checked the oil pressure, it was good and I didn't see evidence of the oil leaking out until the next day, just before I took it in. Replaced housing and truck is running back to normal. The problem was with low oil pressure. The acceleration delay has not been fixed and there is the same hesitation when stepping on the gas that I complained about since I first got the vehicle.

Transmission disconnected from engine and got very loud while coming down Mountain on I-70 at Eisenhower Tunnel above 9000 feet. Suddenly I could only coast with large trucks barreling down on me. Came close to going off cliff edge while trying to get off the highway. Called local Silverthorn CO dealership and had it towed to them. They said the computer showed no problem and no record of a problem. So back on the road we went and it happened again at the same exact location. Knowing what it was I wanted to get to a Denver dealership. Put it in neutral and coasted 28 miles down the mountain. Once in Denver it started working again. And it worked all the way back to Austin TX.

Since that time it has happened four more times and each time we took it to the dealership they could find no problem in the computer. Except this last time the Service manager who was standing outside at the Salida CO dealership 8/8/2015 heard the problem as we drove up to the dealership. Chrysler is refusing to admit to a serious life threatening problem. All we want is it to be fixed.

I would leave my foot on the gas consistently and the vehicle would rev loudly, but never accelerate. It would just stay in place. I floored it to try to get it to go and then it shifted loudly and slowly started to accelerate. Very dissapointed considering this is a 2014 that has been driven very lightly. It scares me for the fact that this is my mommy mobile and I drive it with my 2 babies in the vehicle.

Driving on the highway on a 55mph stretch and the truck would rev up and then slow down. No matter what I did with the gas peddle I could not get it to speed back up, but it would still rev.

I'm taking it into the shop tomorrow morning. It should be covered by warranty as it's a 2014 and has less then 40k on it.

I drive it like an old grandpa and shouldn't be having these issues, which is where my complaint lies.

It's inexcusable for a 2014 vehicle to be having transmission issues already.

I will see what they have to say tomorrow, although they have already told me that they could need it for up to 2 weeks and I'd have to get a rental car, to which I freaked out.

If this is covered by warranty and I get a free vehicle to compensate me for this failure then all is good, if not, I will raise every bit of hell I can.

Not impressed at this point
