1500 Express Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,564 miles

Truck shifted into this morning on rain wet roads....at 65 MPH !!!!!! Not sure what happened. Did 360 then 180 in highway. Lucky there was no traffic. Was moving along and truck suddenly veered to center grass median, back on pavement, did the spins and wound up on outside shoulder. All dash lights were lit, shift knob was blinking, caught a glance of the dash that had some kind of "shift" message. Turned key off and restarted. Engine light and other dash lights were on. Engine ran rough as it does after battery is reconnected. Then smoothed out and everything operated as it should.

Have had this happen randomly over the last 1 1/2 years, have had the truck to the dealer a few times for this and a few other times for other things and always mention this and they never have an answer. they did try reprogramming the the transmission control module but that did nothing. I have read that it happens when the control module gets "confused" and needs to be reset, which is what happens when you shift to park. Mine has also started occasionally dying when this happens.

Not sure whats going on here but the truck shifts out of gear randomly. Normally when stopped at intersections you have to shift into park and back into drive, sometimes you actually have to restart the truck to get going again.

1500 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

When pulling up to a stop sign or traffic light, my truck will either cut off or switch out of drive. This has happened several times and we have taken it to the dealership for repair. The dealership said they fixed the problem when they performed a recall on the airbag issue. The problem still continues.. Very concerned for the safety of my family and I. I will take it back to dealership again.

1500 Laramie 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,500 miles

while driving down a major highway my truck decided to shift out of drive, the shift indicator light above the shift knob still was in drive but it was flashing and on the heads up display in the dash a message indicating that i needed to shift into park to reselect a gear. This has happened to me twice now, thankfully it hasn't caused an accident. Both times I've taken the truck into the service department, they have not been able to diagnose the problem. After the first incident they replaced the shifter, but that didn't seem to remedy the problem as we've had the same thing happen to us about a week ago. My wife is 5 months pregnant and i have a 1 year old daughter, i purchased this truck brand new so that id have the peace of mind knowing they're in a safe and reliable vehicle. Instead i have to constantly worry if they'll end up in a car wreck when this truck decides to stall and they have to park on a busy freeway or around a blind turn on at night. Chrysler needs to step up and resolve these issues before someone is seriously hurt or even worse dies in a accident.
