I was driving down a road with no load on the truck at about 35 mph. The front tire blew out. Stopped immediately. The tire had torn all the way across the tread from outside of wheel to inside of wheel. See attached pics. I had a former goodyear employee look at it and he said he thought it was defective. If this had happened at higher speed could have been very bad, could have killed me or others. As it was the tire caused over $2000 damage to the truck - inner fender well and fender etc...These were original tires that came on the truck new had about 31,000miles on them. Still have the tire and it can be inspected.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500 equipped with the Goodyear tires, tire line: Wrangler sr-a: tire size: P275/60/R20, dot number: M6ynid1R3819. The contact stated that while his nephew was driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear driver's side tire exploded. The contact pulled off of the roadway and the vehicle was towed to stevens creek Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (4100 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129, (408) 809-3886. The dealer ordered a replacement tire and the tire was replaced. The vehicle was picked up and while driving 55 mph on the highway, the failure recurred on the driver's side front tire. The vehicle was pulled off of the roadway and towed back to the residence. The vehicle was not yet taken back to the dealer and the tire was not yet replaced. Neither the tire nor the vehicle manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 14,500.

There is a visible chunk of rubber missing from my truck tire. My wife and I noticed the anomaly on the tire in the morning right before leaving to work. I commute with this truck Monday though Friday, on a smooth highway. These tires have never seen harsh conditions. This is not normal, and definitely not expected for a vehicle with so few miles on the road. The vehicle has 18400 miles and was purchased new. These tires are meant to last much longer (5 years / 65,000 miles). This is a dangerous defect, that can cause accidents especially since one does not expect this issue to arise. Additionally, when brought to an authorized shop, workers state that this is not a warranty issue and will not be covered. This is not acceptable. Manufacturing defects such as these should be covered under warranty.

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2019 Ram 1500 equipped with Goodyear Wrangler duratrac tires, size: LT275/70/R18 (na). While driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear driver's side tire blew out. There was no crash due to the blowout. The vehicle was taken to a Goodyear tire dealer to be inspected. The contact stated that the steel belts were pushed out outside of the tread on the tire due to the blowout. The contact stated that the tire showed defects to the tread belt. The contact was concerned that similar vehicles at the local fca dealer showed the same flaw with the tires. The tires were not replaced. Team one Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of gadsden (located at 1149 1st ave, gadsden, al 35901, (256) 543-9583) was informed of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate tire and vehicle failure mileage was 30.
