The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. After a traffic stop on the highway, the contact was informed by the state trooper that the front passenger side rim was fractured. The contact could not recall making contact with a curb or a pot hole that would have caused the rim to fracture. The fracture was between 3-6 inches. The rim was still able to contain 70 psi of tire pressure. The vehicle was not taken to be inspected. Friendly Dodge Chrysler Jeep Inc (located at 2499 NY-14A, penn yan, NY 14527, (315) 531-8563) was contacted by phone. The contact was informed that the rim was out of warranty. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V499000 (wheels). The contact stated that the wheels were original equipment. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
