ProMaster City Cargo Van 2.4L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

I live up a hill, so every morning backing it up, and facing downhill, the car stuck in first gear and engine braking all the way down, not unless you add gas to it, and the shift is hard. Sometime the car will stall out, and is an auto. Also hunting for gear all the time. WTF does it have 9 gear again?

ProMaster City

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

A few times while driving this vehicle it acted as if it went out of gear, as if it was put in neutral. Pulled over and put it in park and then back into drive. This was followed by a large bang as it went back into gear. Luckily I was only a mile from the dealership. They said the computer had to be reprogrammed, but it did this without warning and could have easily stranded me.

I tried to pull a very small utility trailer rated much less than the towing capacity and it was very obvious that this vehicle doesn't like it, I would not buy this vehicle if there was any intention of pulling anything at all. I also have a Ford Transit Connect and it pulls the same trailer with no issue at all.

This vehicle has been in the dealership multiple times with different problems.
