The head cracked and started making a tasty looking oil and coolant milkshake followed by the engine overheating and shutting down on a long road trip (That's when we noticed the issue). Managed to get another engine for $350 and got that installed and paid for by the shop we bought the car from. Still a huge pain in the ass though. All worth it for the fuel economy this car gets though!
