I took my car into Toyota, and they told me I needed a new transmission, and the tranny would cost $2000. It would be about $6000 total. I took it home and replaced the torque converter myself for $700. It was a pain in the ass and I would recommend it, but I would rather die than pay such an absurd amount for a manufacture fault. It took me little over a year to finish.

I was also told the tranny was a sealed transmission but it’s 100% not. It has a dipstick, it has a drain plug and if your dealership ever tells you otherwise tell them they don’t know a damn thing about the car!
