Oil light went on and off (would flick on for a short time and then be off for a long time). I brought it to the dealer as I'd gotten the extended warranty. To "fail" an oil consumption test the car needs to use 1 liter oil in 1100-1300 miles. This is in a car that is supposed to get the oil changed every 10k miles. Mine didn't quite use that the first time but did the second time I got it tested. The repair was under warranty but they had to send to Japan for the parts, take the engine apart, and I had a rental (which was not charged to me) for a month. I've had another, less dramatic problem since then, which was also under warranty. I'm so glad I did the extended warranty this time!! I should probably sell the car when it runs out, though, considering what's gone on so far.

My car is burning a quart of oil since it had about 60k miles. Done several oil consumption tests and Toyota says it's normal to burn up to a quart of oil every 600 miles. Now I'm at the 90k miles. My oil pressure light comes on at about 2500 miles and some how I'm suppose to reach 10k miles for an oil change.

I purchase my car from Toyota of Lewisville for its compact size and to save on GAS...

i Keep up with my oil changes, took my car in back in OCT of 2017 and the dipstick read no oil... Per the guy who did the oil change at Toyota... I had notice prior to taking my car in the oil light would come on and off but never stayed on... so i took it in a little early to have this checked out...so they did the oil mant... so here i am January 10th 2018, OIL lights comes back on and off, so I did what the guys said if this happen again please bring it in...

they check my oil levels and it took 2 1/2 litters for this little car... it should not been burning oil...

the guy said it might be the Pistons but would have to run a diagnostic test... that would cost around $100.00 bucks... to know for sure and if so they would need to take my engine apart to fix issue... WHAT!

My concern the oil lights does not say light to advise of low oil and car does not mark its hot while running... I am afraid it will catch on fire, I drive my car everyday to work... i had heard Toyota has had issue with the Pistons on there cars, I feel it should be under warranty.. car is just to new to be doing this... I hope we don't have to have an accident/death before something can be done about it...
