problem #2

Forester S Ej25

  • Automatic transmission
  • 124,274 miles

In cold temperatures the vehicle would produce a strong gasoline odor when starting - upon further investigation there was fuel leaking out of a hose connected to the injectors where the clamps had shaken loose over time allowing fuel to drip out. The clamps were tightened and the smell stopped. Unfortunately the clamps seem to loosen off every year bringing back the same odor. Highly annoying, and plan on replacing the clamps next time.

Forester L 2.5L

I'd just had the knock sensor replaced because of the engine light coming on. This was precipitated by the car stuttering and losing power on the freeway......scarey! I've since had the gas smell problem at start up and the engine stutters when it's lugging.
