Forester EX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

I was driving on the freeway without a passenger and all of a sudden the passenger seatbelt warning came on. I buckled the passenger seatbelt just so it would stop dinging and it still kept dinging. When I was able to bring it in I was told that the part had to be ordered and it was covered. Let me mention that while I was waiting there was another customer in there for the EXACT SAME PROBLEM! It turns out that it was a faulty airbag... guess its a good thing that I wasn't in a car accident and especially with my children!

I was told it would only take maybe 2-3 weeks to get the part... it took OVER 3 MONTHS!! AGAIN... I was WITHOUT MY VEHICLE AND HAD TO KEEP DRIVING BACK AND FORTH TO THE SUBARU SERVICE.

Forester 2.5i Premium Sport Utility 4D 4-cyl, Pzev, 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 105,000 miles

I get an intermittent "check SRS" error message on my console. It may have to do with the fact that my son, who sits in the passenger seat, has a weight that doesn't register on all of the sensors built into the passenger seat.

Only when a full-grown adult sits in the passenger seat does the error message go away.

It's irritating to be driving down the highway and not know if your safety bags are going to deploy.

Forester 2.51 Premium

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

Dealer has proposed replacing the passenger seat cushion with built in sensor at a cost of $1200. 2016-2019 models were recalled to fix this same problem - why not earlier models?
