I cannot read the red print on black ground at night on the dashboard. I have to drive at night.

I cannot read the odometer during the day. This weekend during the day, I drove down the Seward Highway for work retreat. I could not read the odometer in the bright sunshine. At times the odometer was completely black. There were several road speed signs warning of a limit of 55 miles per hour or double fines. I had a trail of cars behind me, because I did not know how fast I was going. When I approached the flashing “your speed limit” it was 43 miles per hour! This was very frightening to me and the vehicles behind me.

I was unaware of this problem when I purchased the car.

My attempts to correct this very unsafe problem:

• Service Department – tried to change the display - not an option • 800 number – 1-800-782-2783 – told me of other complaints of the dash lights for reading speed • Email to sales manager – he would report to the district manager

Purchased this car a couple of weeks ago and love it except for one think, you cannot see the display for the tach, fuel and speed when the sun is shining thru the front window. The same thing for the back up camera display. Who ever designed the displays must never have driven the car in sunlight. Traded in a Honda CRV and never had this problem. Subaru needs to find a fix for this. If you are wearing sunglasses, like we do almost all the time in Florida, the problem is even worse. WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING DISPLAYS IF YOU CAN'T READ OR SEE THEM?
