This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Subaru dealer.
Pre-collision braking system engaged during highway driving 55-60mph with no apparent cause. No vehicles or obstacles on roadway other than my subaru. This happened twice on this day about 0900 and then 1600hrs. Red alert light flashed on/off with simultaneous automatic braking.

I have had my Forester for 6 months. About a month ago the eye sight system began randomly shutting it's self off. There didn't appear to be a rhyme or reason, sometimes it would turn off as soon as I started the car and remain off, other times it would randomly turn off during my 20+ minute drive. This is obviously a safety issue in turning it's self off it cancels the cruise control with not warning to the driver or vehicles following. I have brought my vehicle in twice now for this issue and the dealer still cannot give me the solution for the problem, they have called the Subaru 'help desk' as well and they didn't have a solution for the dealership.

A month after warranty expiration, Eyesight system failed. Will work periodically for short spurts. To get it CHECKED will cost $220 and IF a fix is found may cost more. Subaru dealer is the ONLY place to get this fixed and has been proven unreliable in the past. I really liked the car until this happened - now I would NOT recommend Subaru to anyone.
