Recently driving car completely cut out, I lost power steering, brakes, fuel injection, and others. I opened the hood to see the car battery had significant battery corrosion on a terminal. Had the car towed to the mechanic and they ran a diagnostic and said the battery was having a short. I got the car back, it was running well enough for two days and then while driving around town to run errands I lost everything electrical again. Had to to have car towed to the shop again and they discovered when the car gets warm the alternator shorts. This has become a 900 dollar repair. The fear of getting in a wreck was real, car lost major mechanical control functions and from other reports I am not the only one who has had this issue.
