Car accelerated as I turned right into a parking spot. Almost hit the building. Took it to Subaru and they drove it around the parking lot and said they could find nothing wrong.

unintended acceleration unintended acceleration unintended acceleration

Unwanted, unstoppable acceleration.

While backing up a winding hill on a hard packed gravel driveway I backed into a seven inch diameter tree on the edge of the road. Did not hit it hard enough to damage the back bumper. I put the car in drive and in an instant the motor went wide open. I hit the brakes, but no noticeable effect. I narrowly missed the corner of the garage. The car dug four depressions in the driveway when it took off. And threw gravel all the way down the hill and on the flat until it hit a large tree, the motor still racing. The runaway happened in seconds. The car was totaled. My wife suffered a badly broken right wrist. I was nearly knocked out. I have been a safe driver for 60 years. Drove professionally for about four and a half years. I also have over 175,000 miles and counting on motorcycles. This car definitely did malfunction. Fortunately the house security camera captured the action. I will upload the video to YouTube, then update my complaint . Subaru Canada and the my Subaru dealer ignored my complaint, with the dealer rep saying, “The floor mat was probably on the gas pedal.”

While driving the car in a parking lot, I turned to park on a spot and as I was parking with my foot on the gas pedal, the car accelerated on its own. I ended up on the sidewalk close to the window of a dentist office. A very scary situation that could have hurt someone.

The dealer recommended I towed the car to them, which I did using the Subaru road assistance. Once at the dealer the inspected the car outside, they placed it in the computer to have it diagnosed and drove it around to try to duplicate the issue. The Subaru Dealer did not found any issue, the computer indicates everything is working ok. They also told me that they tested the possibility that I was touching both pedals, if that is the case the break is supposed to override the gas pedal and they were able to confirm that.

In other words, there was nothing they could do to fix the problem, I was also told that if they cannot duplicate the problem or if the computer does not tell them what is wrong, there is nothing to fix.

The only option or suggestion is that I would have accidentally stepped on the gas pedal which I am certain I did not. The car accelerated by itself.

I showed the dealer this website and I stated there are about 15-20 other complaints about this issue but both service people told me they had never heard of the issue and they never had a Subaru at the Johnson Subaru of Cary before.

unintended acceleration

My wife was going to work and pulling into the parking stall. When she put on the brake in the stall the car suddenly accelerated. Luckily there was a steel cable separating her car from the car in the front parking stall. The steel cable caused considerable damage to her car but prevented her car from running into the car in front. She reiterated that she was braking when the car accelerated.

Reported incident, tech. Could not find problem. This has happened 3 times already. Even though it has not caused an accident yet, this is a very dangerous situation. Aim looking to trade vehicle in?

I was pulling into a parking space at low speed and the car just suddenly accelerated without warning. Fortunately, I was able to brake and stop it and there were no cars in front of me. Taking it to the dealer to be checked out. Scary experience.

I turned into my driveway going about 5 mph and continued to ride the brake slowing down approaching my house when the car accelerated unexpectedly when it was about 5 feet from the house and crashed into the house. My wife and I were uninjured but the car had front end damage as the car accelerated and probably hit house at 6 or 7 mph. Air bags did not deploy. I had the car towed to the Subaru dealer who had it checked and found no fault with any codes or the eyesight system. The car was towed to the dealer a few weeks before with a major electrical malfunction which was diagnosed as a wiring harness short causing the inhibitor switch to burn out. This caused every light on the dash to light up and blink, the reverse camera was on during driving and the car did not know which gear it was in. Finally it would not start without disconnect and reconnect of the battery. This car is starting to scare me. I worry about future harm or liability.

My problem is similar to #3 I pulled into a parking space at a store. I was not going very fast but hit a parked Ford F250 which sat higher than my vehicle. There was some damage to his license plate which fell off. I was not sure what really happened until I read these complaints. I have paid attention the last two weeks to how I drive especially when parking and I take my foot off the gas and have it above the brake to stop. This accident may have knocked me out because I had a bruise on my chest below my shoulder blade from the seatbelt and didn't remember the actual hit to the truck. No air bags deployed but my entire front end was damaged. I was yelling at myself the brake the brake and eventually the brake took hold after my hood bent up. Almost $8,000 damage and a month to repair. It has bothered me every day since not knowing exactly what happened. I told my insurance company I must have accidently hit the gas instead of the brake but was not sure that was the case, but didn't know what really happened and that was the only thing that made any sense.
