Forester 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 1,164 miles

When starting from a standing stop, I press the accelerator with no response for about 1/4 inch of pedal travel, then the car jumps ahead with a jerk. This is very inconvenient when doing some deft maneuvering while parking. Risk of jumping ahead and causing a collision while parking.

Subaru make is thought of by some as being a somewhat premium make. I think it is a bit over rated.

I have ALL of my warranty maintenance done by my local licensed mechanic. Most of the required work is provided as part of his normal oil change charge. He does all of the required work, provides a written record on the bill and charges between 1/3 to 1/2 of the Subaru shop charge.

From standstill, the accelerator has about a quarter of an inch of dead spot. That is when you press on the gas nothing happens for the first quarter inch or so, then the car lurches ahead suddenly when it engages. It jerks your neck. I've see the complaint other places as well. Pain in the neck. If it's in the linkage, I may try to adjust it myself.
