Forester Touring 2.5L

Even though the section is for rant and gripe, I would try to be objective. I bought the car brand new in 2016. I looked at other options including Mazda CX3, Nissan Rogue, Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 etc. I really liked Rav4 but the couldn't fall for the style. Hindsight, should have gone for it.

Forester has something off from day 1. There are some really nice features. The drive overall is decent. AWD is very good. Visibility of the road is above average. And that's about it.

First, the engine makes clicking sound for a good 15 minutes after turning off. I thought there was an issue. The dealership told me that's normal for Subaru Forester. They gave some explanation which I don't remember now. But it's VERY annoying. I have never experienced with any other vehicle.

Then the tires went out in about 28K miles. Turned out Subaru intentionally put these tires on new cars for smooth ride for better customer experience during test drive. They know the tires won't last 30K!! That sucks.

Around 30K, I had to change the brakes. Again, they may sound trivial and regular wear and tear but I never had these problems with past vehicles. That includes, Mercedes E300, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Accord, Acura LX.

And then around 39K, all of a sudden the rear driver side wheel start making rattling sound and the drive became really stiff. Turned out the driver rear Strut is busted!!!

Dealership is not very friendly. Parts are exuberantly expensive and so is service cost.

Bottom line, my last Subaru EVER. If they actually spent the energy in making better quality cars than they put in false marketing, they could actually keep customers like me.
