If I run the fan at full speed, it sounds like I've got a generator in the car with me. It's horribly loud. The Subaru dealership quoted me over $1000 for a replacement. FOR A FAN MOTOR. From what I've read on the Internet, this does seem to be an issue with these dumb squirrel cage blower motors. And you can only get the part through a dealer. Still a $550 part. When all is said and done, it will cost $750 for the repair.

Impreza 2.5i Special Edition 4AT 2.5L I4

  • Automatic transmission

The blower motor grinds at lower speed. Sometimes it got stuck. Took it to my local Subaru Dealership, they said the bearings were worn because it was rusting. Cost $750 to replace... How does a part on the INSIDE of a car rust? Apparently its a common problem...
