problem #3

Dec 192018

Legacy 3.6R Limited 3.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 2,000 miles

All radio controls stop working and the infortainment screen would not shut off after turning off the car.

I had to remove the battery cable to turn it off. After doing this, the front passenger power window would not work from the switch on the driver side but would work on the front passenger door switch.

problem #2

Legacy Limited 3.6L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 36,200 miles

From the first day that I bought this Subaru Legacy in June 2018, the Infotainment system was glitchy. The first morning after my purchase, the system wouldn't boot up, and I had to turn the car on and off 5 times to get it to activate. The issue dissipated and didn't show itself again until December 2018. Again, a couple restarts got it to work. Last week, on 3/20/19, the infotainment system wouldn't start up and has continued for the past week.

I am writing this complaint from the waiting area of North Park Subaru in San Antonio, TX where, after 2 hours of waiting for "Recall Updates" to the Starlink and mileage range recalls, I was informed that the software update didn't fix the issue, and that a replacement radio board needs to be ordered, and it will be 2 weeks until it arrives. Upon arrival, I will have to schedule an additional 3 hour installation. In the meantime, I have no access to Bluetooth, phone, radio, navigation, backup camera or TravelLink.

This has been my first experience purchasing a Subaru, and I can adamantly say that I will not purchase another Subaru again. I have searched multiple online forums and this issue seems to be a repetitive issue for hundreds of Legacy owners. I don't know how an issue like this hasn't reached class-action status yet, as the peace of mind and safety issues surrounding this problem are extravagant.

Don't know what Subaru will do to fix this, but I am available to be a part of whatever legal action the Subaru community is willing to take going forward.

Nov 302018

Legacy Legacy 3.6r 3.6r

  • CVT transmission
  • 16,000 miles

i bought the Subaru Legacy 3.6r November 30, 2017 , and on November 30, 2018. the infotainment unit would not turn on. I have had connectivity issues with my phone in this car and the 2017 WRX I previously owned, but I had creative ways to deal with them, until November 30, 2018. Anyhow, I took the 2018 Legacy to a Subaru dealership. The dealership tech did some troubleshooting and wrote that were was an internal short in the infotainment unit.

The unit was ordered and will be replaced under warranty, but I have to wait my turn because there are many infotainment units that need to be replaced in recently purchased Legacys and Outbacks. Wait time is 5 ~8 weeks. So while I wait, I use my phone with ear buds and take a chance the cops don't see me with them on. I would have taken my money somewhere else if I had known of this problem. Another issue will be added soon, this vehicle is not done breaking down.
