Kizashi

  • 52,000 miles
The contact owns a 2010 Suzuki Kizashi. The contact had received a recall letter regarding the front passenger-€™s air bag seat sensor. The contact stated that she was not aware of warning lights only a short beeping sound when any weight was placed on the seat. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and the seat cushion sensor was replaced. The contact later received another recall letter stating that the seat cushion sensor had to be replaced with a newer sensor. The vehicle was not repaired because the dealer did not have the part. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had not responded to a request for a parts update. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure but could not provide a timeline on parts availability. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

The car has low mileage. First the air conditioning system went out. We called Suzuki to see if there was a recall, they said no. We had to search for a part and finally had it replaced at great cost. Now a few months latter this happens. The passanger air bag light has been on for about 2 weeks. Called Toyota dealer. He said it is probably just a bad msg, happens in Hawaii all the time, so we continued driving it. While driving the car on Jan 6, on the other side of the island of Hawaii, as we turned left onto the main highway hear oceanview, all the dash lights came on. The car lost power steering but we were able to get it to a safe place. We could not shut the engine off until about 30 minutes later. We had the car towed to the dealer. While they were testing the car, it stopped in the middle of testing and they couldn't restart it. It had 12 - 15 codes that they had to clear. The air bag light came back and could not be cleared. Now one week later the car is still not fixed as there are no "air bag control modules" available in Hawaii. It will take 2-4 weeks to get one. We are having to pay for a rental car. We only have 37,000 miles!
