4Runner 4wd Trail 4.0L V6

2016 Toyota 4 Runner 4.0L V6

When we first test drove the 4 Runner, we noticed the hesitation in the engine when pressing the accelerator. If you want to go 0-60mph in 5 minutes, you are good. This 4 Runner was brand new and I purchased it hoping that the acceleration would get better as the engine was worn in. It has not gotten any better. We have 100,000 miles on it and my wife enjoys driving it because she doesn't need a lot of acceleration for what she drives. So, we have kept it. But, Toyota has failed on the quality of their vehicles and that is probably why you will see a lot of 4 Runners traded in after only a couple of years or less of use.

I bought this 4Runner new in Oct 2016, and on the first day I noticed one time the truck didn't seem to accelerate. I shrugged it off being new or perhaps I didn't press the accelerator far enough. Since then, I have document 20 occurrences of the same issue. The truck has been back to the dealership 3 times, no resolution. Several times this anomaly almost resulted in being hit. Now working this Toyota HQ, they don't have an answer. I even presented a case from carcomplaints.com of another 2016 4Runner in Daly City, CA, with the same symptoms, but they weren't interested. I am afraid to keep driving this truck, I can't trust it to accelerate.
