On March 7, 2020 the driver entered a parking lot of a retail establishment. The driver, using the brakes and traveling at less than 5 miles per hour, turned into a parking space. As the driver negotiated the turn into the parking space, the car suddenly accelerated and crashed headfirst into a retail signage pole. Despite depressing the brakes as hard as possible, the driver could not stop the car once the car suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated. The car would have landed in a busy four-lane road, if it had not crashed into the signage pole. Fortunately, there was no fatality. The car was totaled and there was some property damage to the retail establishment. It was truly a horrific experience for the driver.

Since 2016 the brakes have been very soft and sometimes when depressing the brake it goes far enough that my foot hits the gas pedal. I have told the dealership and they said they check the brakes and they are ok but to this day they are still soft and this could cause a potential problem.

My vehicle while holding the brake (stationary) at a stop sigh, the vehicle accelerated and hit the back of the car in front.. for 5 days it worked and the following Wednesday it accelerated again ( in motion) while parking in the handicap space at idle speed and brakes. Toyota motor North America, Inc. Sent me a letter that stated that they could not find any problem with the vehicle. Their inspector called me and told me the car worked great and the master warning signal was not flashing nor buzzing and he would send me a copy of the computer print out but it was never sent. I did get some kind of a record but it could not be copied, I took a picture of it but it is in some type code( a computer file) the test consisted of a acceleration and stopping test 22 days after the 1st incident, the car worked well for the days between the incidents. The master warning signal was flashing and buzzing, instructions was to stop the car and have it towed to a dealer they described one incident, I don't know which incident they checked for there were two incidents 5 days apart. The report is a sham I can send you a copy of their letter. Text a copy of this computer info or forward the E-mail with the computer info that I could not copy with my copier. I don't understand any of the computer info..

I was attempting to park my car by backing into the parking space. As I was going forward to position the car before backing up into the space, my car suddenly accelerated and I had to quickly step on the brakes before it slammed into a tree. Even normal everyday driving I have noticed that there is a surge forward while applying the accelerator. I am really concerned because I do a lot of highway driving.

Traveling at approximately 65mph in heavy traffic, sudden braking in front of me required quick braking. When I pressed the brake pedal, no brakes activated and the car actually seemed to increase speed. I then applied heavy pressure on the pedal which caused the tires to screech/slide before the ABS activated. The sudden braking incident caused me to fear not only being rear ended, but also, ramming the vehicle in front of me. Very unsettling and I now have much less confidence in Toyota's top of the line sedan. I am going to local Toyota service department today as this has happened again yesterday, April 16, 2014.

I stopped at traffic light and had my foot on the brake but felt the car accelerate and start to go forward. I put the car in neutral with my foot still on the brake. When I tried to return to drive the car jumped a foot.I still had my foot pressed down on the brake. I went back to neutral. By that time the light changed and I went to drive and the car was back to normal. The car is 7 months old and this is the third time this has happened.I went to the dealer and after 4 hours I was told they could find nothing wrong with the car.one of the mechanics said :it's funnytof all the complaints we get of this nature wecannot find anything wrong, even our engineers can't figure it out. This disconcerting. While not admitting it they seem aware of the problem my wife is afraid to drive the car for good reason. Can I pursue the lemon law?

While driving from knoxville tn to atlanta ga, on a downgrade just outside of chattanooga on interstate 75 I went to use the brake pedal. It depressed all the way to the floor and did not come back. I had no brakes whatsoever and only by the grace of god was I able to safely make it over to the emergency lane, which was clear, and wait until I got to the bottom of the grade for the vehicle to coast to a stop on it's own. I had to use the grass and gravel just off the emergency lane to help bring the vehicle to a stop. I had vehicle towed back to Toyota of knoxville, where purchased, and was told there is no problem with the vehicle. Have driven another 500 miles without incident and no plausible explanation for what happened has been offered by Toyota.
