serpentine belt broken

I would like to file a complaint to your office.

Last January 7, 2013; we decided to get a brand new Toyota Avanza 1.3 J Manual transmission worth P620,000 with color metallic gray. It was on an installment basis payable in five years. After eight days, on January 15, 2013, we noticed that the aircon was is not functioning function properly. It’s like a fan/blower only, we ignore it and assumed there’s no problem because it’s brand new. On January 9, 2013, my husband will be going to work around 0700am, at Balibago National Road, he noticed steering wheel became stiff, he pressed the power window but slowly coming down to check the tire if it is flat after that engine turned off even radio, aircon and speedometer backlight. He tried to start engine but failed, pushed the car to the side of the road and called Laila (Toyota car agent) asking why the vehicle halted, she suggested to buy new battery because it might be the problem and will be re-imbursed after returning the car at their office. Alongside the road there was battery store and asked how much new battery for Avanza , he told it’s impossible for that battery to be discharged because it’s brand new; when my husband checked the engine he saw the belt was totally wrecked, called again Laila to tell the belt was the problem and told to buy a new one to replace it and for us to return the vehicle to their office. My husband called me to come to watch over the car while he is looking for the same item; he walked for hours starting at Macabling up to Binan but failed to get to get the same item, he even went to Toyota Alabang to check the availability of that belt but for ordering based only; the employee there told why the belt was severly torn apart maybe pulley is the problem according to him, my husband told it was a nine day old brand new Avanza how could it be possible that the pulley is the problem and the employee just looked and never talked again and discuss only about the amount of the belt. He called Laila and told no same item can be found and last option is to tow the car just to return the vehicle, she told it’s ok to tow but they have no towing car. With the help also of Laila she provided us towing service but we will shoulder the expenses, she told it can be re-imbursed if proven factory defect, we decided to agree to finish the burden in our side. From Sta.Rosa, Laguna up to Makati, vehicle was towed on the same day, arrived 0800pm and cost us P5500 for the service. On January 17, 2013, I went to Makati Toyota Inc. where we bought the car and where we returned the car, the Manager and Supervisor’s were closely checking the engine and told me they saw cat’s fur, I replied if accidentally cats were caught inside the engine there should be blood spill all over it but there is no evidence of a single drop of blood. They mention also rat bites, I replied, with the thickness and firmness of that belt it’s impossible to pierce on that kind of item maybe on wiring it’s inevitable. They interviewed on what happened and had paper signing together with Juvy Clemente (CRO) telling they will have the car for further investigation to know the root of the problem. I told them it’s a defect and I need a new replacement unit because I don’t want another problem occurrence that might risk our lives while using that vehicle. On January 18, 2013, customer service offered us Innova V automatic transmission with color silver for transport services for the meantime while the car was under investigation; we accepted the agreement and had paper signing together with Kristelle Joy Festin (CRO) telling I am liable for the cars condition in any circumstances will happen. On January 22, 2013, my husband called because they are not updating us, to follow up regarding the investigation; Diosa who is assigned for us told we will have a meeting together with the technical team of Toyota to discuss the problem of the car but no definite date were appointed. She mentioned also they will replace a new belt and to be observed for two days. On January 25, 2013, Diosa told the car was fixed and ready for pick up or delivery to us, I clearly stated that I want a new replacement and replied it will be a long process and we will pay 20%( I don’t know what for) for releasing a new car at the factory. They insisted we have to get the vehicle because it is under my name. Finally we agreed to them because she told we can use the car while we requested for a new unit only we have to make a letter informing we are requesting for a new one and the management will decide if agreeable. Until now January 28, 2013, we already have the vehicle for two days still no report about the technical problem and if we can re-imburse towing service.

I would therefore, like a replacement of new unit Avanza 1.3 J manual transmission color metallic gray and reimbursement of towing service worth P5500.
