A noise is coming from the sunroof that sounds like metal against metal when backing out of the drive way or going around a corner or over a bump. I have owned 3 Toyota and I have never been so frustrated as I am with owning this Toyota 2008 Camry. From the beginning the car has had problems with the brakes that cause the steering wheel to shake, the sunvisors falling, the rear wheel bearing to be replaced and now the sunroof. I'm taking time to write this because I want owners of Toyota to be aware of how poorly Toyota is handling these problem. Toyota has stalled taking action so that when the warranty runs out than is the owners responsibility to pay for the repair. Shame on Toyota. Instead of spending so much time in learning how to avoid doing the right thing they should concentrate on doing the responsible thing. Toyota you lost a loyal customer. Sincerely

Going down the straight part of a steep hill just prior to a curve, went to use the brakes but they didn't respond. Car kept speeding up so I kept foot on the brakes and attempted to turn the wheel to the right for the curve, but car wouldn't slow down so I kept brake pressed down and ended up crashing into a curb and tree.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that she experienced brake failure several times while attempting to stop at any speed. The brakes would exhibit a squeaking noise and would travel abnormally to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure where the front brake pads were replaced. Later, the contact applied the brakes and the brakes did not engage. The vehicle did not stop until the contact crashed into a stop sign and then into a ditch. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the brake booster and water pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 64,703.

2008 new Camry brake and rotor failed at 28000mile less than 3 years during warranty period. 7000 mile alignment failure, always turn one side on freeway when not holding steer. Checked by dealer, nothing was done. 28000 miles right brake cut into rotor. Repaired. However, brake still wear quickly. Alignment service solved this problem. Refuse to reimburse the cost because they did not do anything at 7000mile alignment issue, what is a joke. If this did something, this failure would not happen.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dealer reprogrammed the computer system for recall 10V017000 (vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal). He also noticed that the brake system was not functioning properly after the recall repair was performed. The contact was driving approximately 75 mph when all of the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the brakes failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The current mileage was approximately 93,000. Updated 05/11/10.

The front rotors in my 2008 Toyota Camry have warped twice in less than 24,00 miles. In both instances the dealer cut them, but I believe there is a defect with the product. I have asked the dealer to replace them, but they have refused to do so.

I was dropping my children off at school when my Camry went forward and I was unable to brake and my car went directly into a fire hydrant approximately 20 feet away. I was driving at a very slow rate of speed as I approached to turn a corner but the car accelerated straight ahead into the hydrant. I dislocated part of my foot because I was pressing on the brake as hard as I could to stop the car but it would not stop. It was as if I had no control over the car. The brakes and/or anti-lock brakes did not do anything. The anti-lock brakes did not activate. We had the car repaired at our expense but were not aware of the recall at that time and did not have the accelerator looked at. I was told at our last maintenance appointment that the floor mat in my car was secured but that the car would be recalled. I believe it was reported to the police when I was taken to the emergency room but I do not know if they made a report.

Loss of braking when hitting slight bump with one front tire. This has occurred numerous times when front wheels contact a slippery patch or rough spots. The vehicle feels like all braking is lost for a moment, much like has been reported for 2010 Camry models. This is a Camry hybrid model.

I own a 2008 Toyota Camry and have had a few serious problems that were never recognized by the Toyota dealer which I always serviced the car. They range from small to serious. Front struts seem to be leaking hydraulic fluid, I also complained about a steering problem to the dealer, they inspected the car and told me they found nothing wrong. The steering issue was very apparent, and now has gotten worse. When cornering at low or higher speeds the car seems to skip, and controlling the car gets much more difficult, which becomes a serious safety issue for me. There where service bulletins available for these issues but yet my car was never repaired. Another issue I have noticed has been with braking, the car will vibrate dramatically once brakes are applied. The brakes have been replaced and rotors have been cut 5 months ago. The car has new tires and has been aligned in the past 6 months as requested by the Toyota dealer, yet the steering problems persist. I feel very unsafe driving this car, in back of my mind I feel like something serious might happen every time I get in this car and drive it. I have no confidence driving this car.

Delayed braking in 2008 Toyota Camry hybrid - I have experienced what I consider to be a slow braking response in my car since I purchased it new in May 2008. I have always felt as though the brakes in my 2008 Camry hybrid do not engage quickly enough in all braking situations. The sensation I get is, "the car feels like it is pulling forward in resistance to the braking action creating what feels like a slow braking response". I have always assumed the slow braking response is due to the interaction between the gas engine, electric motor and the regenerative braking system. I have discussed the concerns I have with my dealer and have been told the brakes are working as designed. Now that I am reading about two (or three) Toyota recalls, I think there is at least a possibility that the slow brake response may be a design flaw. I was involved in an accident 5/13/2009 where I rearended another car on route 84 in farmington ct. When the traffic slowed, I thought I had plenty of time to stop. The braking reaction in my vehicle startled me when the car took longer than expected to slow down and resulted in an accident. This was my first at fault accident in 38 years of driving. I continue to be startled by the braking action in this car and definitely will not buy another Camry hybrid. The car was repaired by Toyota and is in good condition. The brakes continue to produce what I consider to be a slow response. My only other thought regarding the slow braking is the possible impact of the added weight from the hybrid system and batteries in a car that was originally designed for a gas engine only.

I have waited until a good year has passed since I purchased the Camry. Driving in the los angles area I experience quite a few incidences where I need to brake abruptly. I find that the braking is controlled by the ABS system, which is not responding to my request for a very quick stop. In most of these incidences my brake pedal will bottom out. I reported this problem when the car was serviced, 11/7/08, and was informed that it?S just the way the car, braking system, was designed by Toyota. In the last 3 months the brake pedal has hit the floor of the car over 12 times. 7 of them I came to close to hitting the car in front and felt it took 30% (or more) longer distance to stop than it should have. All of these events have occurred while going straight in dry conditions, so skidding was not an issue. My previous two autos, I30 and Acura, both had ABS and I never experienced anything like this. At this time I have very little confidence that I can brake in an emergency. It is so bad my wife will only drive the car as a last resort.

The car severely vibrates even on low speed which makes driving like riding a horse. Also it doesn't accelerate properly when I want to, which is really dangerous in many situations. It can cause accidents. There's noise comes from transmission and brakes all the time. I went to the dealer twice and the technician tried to play the idiot game by saying I see nothing wrong. I contacted Toyota and they told me that if I'm crazy enough to buy their car, I should keep quiet. I moved to ca recently and with heavy traffic, the car becomes really annoying.
