Reported this problem to Ray Brandt Toyota when I picked my car up when they so called fix the Oil Consumption problem . Toyota says this is acceptable. Making a loud noise . Louder than when I bought the car in to be repaired. Would Ray Brandt Toyota employees accept this if any of their wife's bought their car in for recalls and repairs?

Camry LE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,855 miles

my 09 Camry burns oil from day one ,approx 1.7 every 4000km,the transmission down shifts very abruptly when braking from about 50km in hour, water pump changed under warranty at approx 40000km,bolt changed on front end due to noise while turning right, air conditioning seal changed due to freon loose, approx 10000km,can hear the wind and rattling noise on passenger side door, dash rattles according to the temperature inside the car, intermittently the fan inside the car rattles, now the latest one is the rattling noise from the catalytic converter area while accelerating from 0 to 65 km with the worse being at 40 km per hour ! After doing the usual 1000km oil dealer check for consumption crap they acknowledged the issue and told me they will be in touch with Toyota Canada they can not do anything about without their approval,a year later and many phone calls and email later to the dealer there is no reply,I call Toyota Canada and I am told to go and do the oil test again at another dealer ! Here the oil gets topped up over the top line of the dip stick by about 1/2 to 3/4 liter more than usual and when they read the consumption they mention consumption of oil between the lines of the dip stick (conveniently this way down playing the consumption of oil ). For the rattling noise from the exhaust system I have been told to use premium gasoline instead (it only cost 6 to 7 cents more per liter this way, peanuts when the stupid owner is paying).I can not believe I have researched the crap on this purchase (bought the 09 Camry new ) and picked up a lemon !!! I find the dealers just like the Toyota Canada customer service condescending and arrogant,I have asked 5 different dealers regarding the oil consumption and the down shifting of the transmission and got 5 different answers, they make the story as they go along !!! this is my first and last Toyota purchase,I will ride a bike and I will not purchase ever again a toyota, the whole Toyota consortium are beyond ignorant !!!
