Camry LE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 161,000 miles

The transmission shakes the whole car very hard in R or low D gear. It is working but definitly annoying. I think the reason is previous owner of this car shifted to R or D while the car was running towards the opposite direction.

Camry 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I bought car brand new in 2011 and kept car maintained oil changed etc and at 90000 miles i began to hear a whining noise in transmission now there was not a fluid leak not low at all and had been driven very carefully. I took to shop only to find out it would cost me 5000 dollars because it was past the 60000 mile range and unlike Nissan somehow Toyota wasn't made to extend warranties out to 120000 miles. I was without car and still paying a note to the bank for my car when the transmission failed. I had always owned a Toyota but with this car it has shown me Toyota won't make it right.

I contacted Toyota central office here in the US about this and they told me nothing would be done. While the company is still selling all these cars with the transmission problems still today.I decided to do some research to figure out why the transmissions are failing only to find out they are buying cheaper parts some kind of bronze bearing instead of steel bearing like they have had for years and years. The company found out these were failing and still kept ordering these parts. I will in the future find out about the parts being used in cars in the future when I purchase another vehicle.

I am today still dealing with a failing transmission and am now on my second . I can't trade the car or sell the car because people know the sound of a failing transmission and i am not going to PASS MY PROBLEM to someone else. I told Toyota when they didn't fix my car transmission due to the garbage parts they are using that I would tell everyone I knew that's part of reason the Toyotas are being dumped here in our area. I have notified the banks as well. I can say here you go Toyota and good luck...I will not be buying another Toyota EVER.....Laurie Biloxi MS.

Camry 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

After the 2 weeks of purchasing the 2011 Camry 4 cylinder with automatic transmission, I kept noticing the whining transmission and clunking when the car shifted at around 30 - 35 mph during in-town driving. I took it to Toyota of Winter Haven, Florida, where the car was purchased. A tech took my car for a ride, then I was told there is nothing wrong. I insisted there was something wrong with the transmission. The service tech said, "Well, you've got the power-train warranty for 5-years/60,000 miles, so I wouldn't worry about it." I was planning on the keeping the car for longer than 60,000 miles, but now I will be trading in the car for another brand when my Camry is paid off. I have owned nothing but Toyota products since 1985, but this situation ends my brand loyalty for any Toyota product! By the way, the whining is getting louder, the abrupt shifts while driving in town still remains. I hate my Camry.
