Camry 2.5L Auto

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,036 miles

This Toyota Camry was bought from authorized distributor Borneo Motors in December 2015 and car servicing done regularly as scheduled. During servicing in December 2021, the authorized workshop engineer notified that there were cracks in the engine mounting and needed replacement.

It is alarming that this premium class car developed such defect after only five years usage. Apparently, the material used during manufacturing process were inferior in quality and/or there could be lapses during production/quality checks. This abnormal defect is certainly contrary to Toyota's quality assurances. It may be useful to note that car was manufactured by Toyota Japan but assembled in Thailand.

Distributor Borneo Motors had refused to take responsibility of this defect and alleged this defect is normal wear and tear. They declined to replace the engine mounting and insisted Owner had to repair or replace part at own cost.

This matter was brought to the attention of the manufacturer Toyota Japan but yet to receive a respond from them.
