problem #2

Sep 012016

Camry Hybrid xl 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

The problem has the potential to REALLY hurt somebody someday. I have been very fortunate so far. But people always stare and talk under their breath when you pull up to park and the car all the sudden lurches forward...making it look like you didn't put it in park or something.

Camry Hybrid Hybrid Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,000 miles

When pulling into a parking space the car suddenly surged forward and I could not stop it. Hit a metal post and tore off front grill/ fender, lights etc, etc. and internal damage.

Thankfully I was not hurt and there were no others in the car.

Now I am without a car while it is being repaired. My insurance company tells me that no recalls were made on this vehicle. I know better as I took mine in for recall

Update from Oct 12, 2013: I am renting a vehicle while mine is being repaired. Not only the showing damage but now they have had to redo the whole dash panel wiring too. My air bags did not deploy when this happened. To have about $8,000 damage to the front end hit and not deploy I am thinking there had to be more wrong with this vehicle. I had taken my car in for recall and they told me I did not have all season floor mats so no problem. I have the repair order with that statement as I had taken it in for steering link recall. The vehicle did not move more than about ten feet and to do this kind of damage is scary. My car never moved that fast on the expressway.

Update from Nov 7, 2013: It has been 6 weeks and still no car. The collision shop has kept giving me a run around. Am hoping to get it back this week, maybe.
