problem #3

Jan 142008

Corolla 1.8L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Engine light went on 4 times. Toyota tried to do different things each time to turn it off. The last time cost me $300 but they were not sure the problem could be fixed permanently. They said I might have to replace the catalytic converter, the most expensive part of the car. Today the light just went on again!!!!

Why the catalytic converter has to be replaced so early for this car? I have owned 5 different cars in my life but none required this costly repair.

I thought Toyota name goes with quality but I feel quite really disappointed about this car.

Engine light went on. Found out it was the catalytic converter. Cost of part over $1,000 , yes that's right OVER one thousand dollars. Add the labor and it will be a $1400 repair. Mechanic said it is the MOST costly piece on this car and this is too soon to have gone out. Problem is minor - a bit less on mpg... but it will NOT pass inspection in April, so need to find the $$$ to repair by then...
