Corolla CE 1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 69,779 miles

After having the 5 speed manual transmission replaced at 50,000 miles for noise/vibration in fourth and fifth gear, the replacement transmission intermittently grinds when shifting to third gear after only 20,000 miles! I have driven cars with manual transmissions my entire life (including a 5 speed 1994 Toyota truck that I put 150,000 miles on) and have never had ANY transmission problems. At this point, I've had an engine control module failure at 30,000 miles, a transmission failure at 50,000 miles, and ANOTHER transmission failure at 70,000 miles! I'm ready to slap a Yugo sticker on this headache of a car. It's is no longer under warranty, and my confidence in Toyota is completely gone. I won't be shelling out $4,000 to install YET ANOTHER transmission when I have no faith in Toyota's reliability anymore.
