We have hit our heads on the trunk lid many time in the past year since we bought the car. I will keep looking for parts or solution as I do not want to pay for "worn out parts" according to dealer. This should have been repaired long ago under warranty by previous owner... unless they also got the run around....

Toyota says all their Corolla are the same. Any slight breeze, putting a bag of groceries in the trunk can cause trunk to come down on your head or shoulders . This is most serious when the car is headed up any slight incline as small as 5 degrees makes the trunk lid unstable. Poor design based on my 93 ford whose trunk must weigh 10X but will stay in any position between closed and full open. The ford also uses torsion bars but has a superior balance in the Ford design. Corolla itrunk lid s dangerous and Toyota is unresponsive saying they have no other complaints which I find unbelievable.

The trunk would not stay open very well on its open, I had to constantly lift up the lid when loading items, even with a small breeze the trunk would close due to the wind, or its own weight. The dealer noticed this problem, eventually, and repaired it, either at their cost or Toyota's cost. I am happy with the repair.
