The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated the vehicle would not accelerate past 40 mph. The check engine and vsc service warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where he was informed that the transmission failed. The dealer replaced the transmission. After repairs while braking from speeds of 50 mph, the brakes would not engage. The contact applied repeated pressure to the brakes and the ABS engaged until the vehicle came to a stop. The failure continued to recur until the vehicle stalled. Upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation momentarily before the check engine and vsc lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where he was advised the new transmission had failed. The transmission was replaced a second time. The dealer advised that when the transmission failed, it caused the brake failure. The failure did not recur. The failure mileage was 1,550 and the current mileage was 1,740. Updated 11/03/10. The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. He took the vehicle to the dealer to have the accelerator pedal replaced on February 18, 2010. A few days after the vehicle was repaired he attempted to stopped at a traffic light with his foot on the brake pedal. While driving 45 mph he noticed that the rmps increased and decreased when the vehicle attempted to accelerate and lunge forward. He took the vehicle back to the dealer twice after it was repaired. The dealer could not duplicate the failure. The dealer contacted the service manager who provided the contact with a rental vehicle. The failure mileage was 3,589 and the current mileage was 3,590. Updated 4/7/2010 the consumer stated his wife was driving the vehicle, when suddenly she felt a surge when coming to a stop. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer, but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The consumer stated he also had problems with the anti-lock brakes where it would activate for no reason. Updated 06/10/10

I drive a 2010 Toyota Corolla. There is something wrong with the antilock brake system; especially if I am trying to apply the brake to slow the car and am making a right turn(even slightly turning right). It's like the brakes lock up and the steering gets like a mac truck. This also happens when I go over a bump and/or pothole. It most recently even happened when I was driving down the highway and there was a slight right curve in the road and I wasn't applying the brakes. I took the car into the dealership today and they could find nothing wrong. Within an hour of leaving the dealership; it happened twice yet they couldn't duplicate the problem. I have a brand new car and am afraid to drive it. Supposedly my car wasn't recalled for the gas pedal because it was made in Japan but feel like the gas pedal is sticky at times. I am very upset because I just put all this money out and I have an unsafe vehicle to drive. My daughter and I were going to try and drive across country this summer and now we cannot possibly for we donot feel safe in this car. Toyota should have to buy back the vehicles. I believe there is a much bigger problem causing all this that they are not admitting and/or have not found yet. I didn't complain or take the car back right away because I had similar problems with the Scion xd and was told there was nothing wrong again and again. This is an ongoing problem.
