Corolla

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,500 miles

At high speeds on the highway (above 90 km/hr), the car veers as if it is being buffeted by high winds. Steering more challenging to control.

Corolla LE 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

I would not recommend that anyone drive this car over 90 Km/hr even on nicely surfaced highways. It is very easy to veer / lose control and smash into another car on the adjacent lane ! It is not a good idea to wait and see as lives can easily be lost. I have previously owned a 1992 Toyota Cressida, a 2003 Nissan X-Trail and a 2007 Mercedes E280 4Matic and have never faced this kind of problem even at 140 Km/hr.

( Those who face this problem are encouraged to take time to add their complaints here to build a business case ASAP rather than wait for a serious accident endangering valuable lives. )

Corolla LE 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50 miles

The steering problem in the Corolla is undoubtedly more troublesome for some drivers than others . The primary driving discomfort occurs at higher speeds when the steering is a constant struggle as though driving in heavy wind. The serious danger of this car is skidding to avoid and accident in which case even an accomplished stunt-driver would be unable to control the over-steer.

Hopefully Toyota will recall all the Corollas from 2010 through 2012 and repair this serious design flaw.
