When the car is started on cold mornings and put in reverse, there is a loud rumble. Actually this happens when the engine rpm is around 900-1100, so I notice it when stopped at a stop light or driving forward slowly too. It is much louder in reverse.The problem goes away if the engine RPM goes above around 1100 or when the engine gets heated up.
I had a Corolla and have a Camry but they did not have this problem. It sucks that my most expensive Toyota has to have this problem.
There are other reports on the Toyota forums about this but I thought this should be reported in more places if we ever expect a fix. It is strange that people have reported this since 2008 for this particular model but Toyota has still not fixed it. Talking to a dealer service rep will only get a "its normal" or "there is no tsb" for this problem.
