problem #1

Mar 202013

Highlander Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,000 miles

Started from the first month it burned more than 2 quarts in 5000 miles.. Toyota said it was an oil leak... then another leak then another.... and eventually dropped the engine earlier this year and re-sealed every gasket and seal... and it still burns 1 qt every 2000 or so miles... they say it is normal to burn 1 qt every 1100 miles... will not replace the engine under warranty or piston/rings... seeking an automotive attorney now

Update from Nov 10, 2017: Now burns between 1 qt to 1.5 qt every 2000 - 2500.

Toyota still contends normal... I have owned 8 Toyotas and still own three... 2006 does not move off the top mark of the stick .. between oil changes at 7500 miles... nor does the 1999 Solara... both V6 engines but the 2013 Highlander does... non of the other Toyota v6 engines ever came off the top mark between changes.

Toyota continues to walk away from this car!
