moisture in tail light

I bought a used 2014 Highlander. Wasn't immediately aware of the fact that BOTH rear light assemblies had moisture in them. It is likely going to lead to significantly shorter lifespan. Not covered under dealer 60 day warranty or Toyota 36K lousy warranty.

Dealer suggestion is to replace both at a cost of $580 plus tax. Um, I don't think so. Toyota should take ownership of this.

moisture in tail light

I got this SUV brand new in 2014. After couple years when I got around 30,000 miles on it, one of the tail lights started having moisture built up during rainy days, but disappeared on sunny days. Few month after that, the other side tail lights having the same issue. I brought the SUV back to the dealer, but unfortunately, it was a sunny day so they could not find any issue with it. Now it's out of guarantee and both tail lights look like in the picture. Unfortunately, I got this SUV over 36,000 miles (instead it's under 3 years) and I'm still negotiate with the dealer for fixing it because obviously it's a defective part.

moisture in tail light

I have owned several Toyotas/Lexus vehicles and have never had this problem. Very disappointed, especially since we've only had the car 14 months and it's never been in an accident.
