2005 Prius, both batteries were replaced by 101,000 miles. The electric cell battery was replaced by Toyota because it was just a little over the warranty time limit. My car now has 196,000 miles. In August of 2013, I had a problem with a loss of oil. Only one drop of oil was on the oil gauge. I had the same problem in September.
This time the Toyota representative told me that I needed another engine because my car was burning oil. They offered to replace the engine with a used one. $3,300 would have paid for the motor and the labor charges. The used motor had 64,000 miles.
I talked with a Toyota sales person about the value of my car. I could not believe the low resale price. It cost more for the used motor then the whole car. I drove the car back home without the used motor. There is no way that I would sell my car for such a low price. If my car was in excellent condition, the resale value was extremely low.
I am glad I have a Chevy truck!
