Prius LE 4

  • CVT transmission
  • 1,200 miles

Soon after purchasing the 2019 Prius I noticed a whine type noise at low speeds. It increased in pitch as I drove faster and was almost impossible to hear past 28mph. Quite annoying when driving around neighborhoods. I didn't get it looked at for over a year because of the pandemic. I left it with the dealer who kept it for 10 days deciding that the transmission had to be replaced. They absentmindedly revealed that they had not done that service before since it required dropping the entire engine out of the car. When I got it back the noise was gone, but there was another high pitched noise, constant at all speeds but not at idle, that wasn't there before. I had it considering it was a new car, I was very disappointed. Fortunately I sold it to an internet dealer for a bit more than I paid for the car. It was like a get out of jail card.
