On Thursday 08/30/2012 my wife approached a busy intersection. As she attempted to stop the car kept accelerating through the intersection-as she pressed hard on the brake pedal. Our granddaughter was in the vehicle also as she went through, turning to the right to try and avoid a collision. She crossed a field going about 400 feet toward an wooded ravine. she aimed for a tree to stop her. the car smashed into the tree and was inches from plunging over the edge, the trees stopping her. WTF!!! She has a broken wrist and bruising, the granddaughter mild bruising. All air bags deployed, the vehicle may be totaled. A witness saw the rav4 as it hit the tree line, rear wheels siding and front ones smoking as it was stuck revving full tilt and smoking the tires. The kind passer by assisted my wife and granddaughter exiting the vehicle and shutting off the engine. We have yet to officially prove the accelerator or computer control malfunctioned. the police ( TOLEDO OHIO police dept. did write her a ticket for running the red light) There is obivious evidence the rear wheels were drug across the field as she went.
